Companies that have wasted much time and money with flavor houses, formulators, and consultants that have bungled their projects continually contact us. The complaints generally fall into three categories:

  1. Lack of technical, in-house expertise
  2. Failure to follow-up promptly and professionally
  3. Add-on charges

Such client’s frustration/anger levels are high when we hear about their situations. Often not only their beverage, but also their business is at stake. In addition to product development failures, we hear of bundled business and technical services, all of which went bad. First, we must gain their confidence by an objective evaluation of the problem and a recommendation for a reasonable solution.

We begin with an urgent review by our laboratory: a large sensory panel does a tasting if samples are available; the product ingredients and formulation are critiqued; the label information is checked; the recommended or actual manufacturing process is evaluated; etc.

Whatever the technical issues (reformulation; label correction; need for a shelf-life study; revised packaging; adjusted manufacturing process; etc.), we establish a corrective plan and assign a Project Leader. We ship first prototype samples to the client within 10 business days and the process begins.
